6 Portion Silicone Freezer Tray | 50ml

At 50ml per portion (roughly three tablespoons), this tray is the most popular size for baby food, toddler snacks and small sauce portions. It's ideal for freezing stage-one and stage-two purées, bliss balls and bite-sized sweet treats, flavoured ice cubes for drinks, small portions of pesto, tahini or nut butter, and smoothie booster packs. Each tray holds six portions, so one batch prep session covers several days of snacks or meals at once.

The 50ml tray sits in the middle of the small end of our range. It holds twice as much as the 25ml tray (which is better for herb cubes and early weaning drops) and half as much as the 100ml tray (which suits larger baby portions and individual sauces). For most baby food stages and snack-sized portions, 50ml is the most practical everyday size, which is why it's included twice in both our Complete and Ultimate Freezer Sets.

The 50ml size works well from around 5–6 months, once babies move past the very first tastes and start taking slightly larger purée portions. It's ideal through the 6–12 month stage for single-ingredient and combination purées, and stays useful for toddler snacks and sauces well beyond the first year. For the very earliest weaning drops (4–6 months, one or two teaspoons at a time), the 25ml tray is a better fit - many parents keep both and use them in rotation.
