Here’s what we’ve been working on behind the scenes since winning last year:
We Are 100% Emissions Free
We have made some big changes since winning in 2020 and we are proud to say we are now 100% emissions free at our HQ - yewww! Thanks to our rooftop solar panels we generated 3x the amount of electricity we needed in 2020. Our aim now is to reduce the amount of electricity we use at HQ and become certified Climate Neutral (or positive if we can) by the end of 2021.
Turning Our Food Waste into Vegetables
It’s important that we reduce our impact on the environment around us AND make a positive impact where we can. It was this ethos that was behind the creation of our very own vegetable garden at HQ. We now compost 100% of our food scraps, saving it from landfill and using it as plant food for our vegetables, flowers and indoor plants.
It’s not just us that benefits from our new garden produce either. We’ve created a new ecosystem for birds, butterflies and even honeybees with the addition of our very own Flow Hive. The bees pollinate local plants and have a positive impact on the environment around us. It’s absolutely bee-autiful!
Our Climate Friendly Shipping
We continue to ship all of our orders out to you in recycled cardboard mailers that are also recyclable for you at home. The protective filler in every order is made right here in our warehouse on a machine that shreds used cardboard boxes. That makes all of our packaging fully recyclable or compostable at home for you! Every order is sent through Auspost and is recognised as carbon neutral too.
We Believe Product End of Life Matters
We strive to be trailblazers in ethical and sustainable products that serve the needs of our community. We have a huge focus on the end life of all of our products and all new products must be long lasting and recyclable at their end of life, zero waste, or compostable. This year, we launched our Spare Parts and Silicone Take Back Initiative to ensure none of our products end up in landfill.
Our Goal Is Making Sustainability Accessible
We’re big believers that no-one can do everything but we can all do something. That’s why we are constantly sharing tips, hacks and new products to help everyone reduce their reliance on single-use plastics.
