How to Refresh Your Pantry (Without the Overwhelm)

Pantry chaos? You’re not alone. Between half-used packets, mystery containers, and expired goods hiding at the back, it’s easy for even the most well-intentioned pantry to turn into a hot mess. But a refresh doesn’t have to mean a weekend-long project or a Pinterest-perfect overhaul. Here’s how to reset your pantry, step by step - without the overwhelm.

1. Do a quick stocktake

Before you reach for new jars or baskets, open your pantry and take 10 minutes to scan what’s in there. Toss expired goods, combine duplicates, and make a note of anything that needs replacing.

2. Clear one shelf at a time

Instead of emptying the whole pantry (hello, instant chaos), tackle one shelf or section at a time. It’s less overwhelming and easier to stay motivated.

3. Choose storage that works for your space

Function matters as much as form. Our Newrybar Pantry Jars were designed to maximise shelf space with a clean square silhouette. Plus, they’re made from durable borosilicate glass with LFGB-certified Silicone lids - so you’re cutting out plastic and clutter in one go.

4. Label what matters

Clear jars are great, but sometimes you still need to tell the difference between self-raising and plain flour. We prefer chalk pens to help everyone in the household know what’s what.

5. Decant the things you use often

It’s tempting to decant everything - but start with staples like pasta, rice, flour, and snacks. You’ll get more visual clarity and waste less food when you can see what you’ve got. Use our Stainless Steel Funnel for zero mess.

6. Nest and stack where possible

Square jars, like Newrybar, make it easy to stack neatly. Nesting bowls and collapsible containers help save even more space. Our new Stainless Steel Mixing Bowls come with lids, so they double as prep and storage.

7. Upgrade single-use plastic

Say goodbye to broken scoops and bendy, melted plastic spoons and utensils. Our new Rice Spoon and Clove Utensils are made from the highest certified silicone, making them plastic-free and built to last.

8. Keep snacks at eye-level

Especially if you’ve got kids. Easy-to-grab snack jars or baskets reduce rummaging and mess.

9. Rotate your stock

When you restock, move older items to the front and new ones to the back - just like they do in grocery stores. It’s the easiest way to stay on top of expiry dates.

10. Don’t aim for perfect - aim for progress

A functional pantry isn’t about perfection. It’s about making small, sustainable swaps that suit your lifestyle and space.
