Seed & Sprout Ceramics Range: Made Slowly, Used Daily Seed & Sprout Ceramics Range: Made Slowly, Used Daily

Our product team spend a lot of time in kitchens (theirs and others) looking at the small things we all do over and over again.

Reaching for salt.

Pouring oil.

Measuring ingredients.

Spreading butter.

They come up with ways to quietly replace plastic in the most-used corners of your kitchen, with pieces that feel calm, grounded and genuinely lovely to use. Introducing our hand crafted Ceramics Range!

This range is about making plastic-free choices feel natural, not forced. Familiar, not fussy. And beautiful enough to leave on the bench, so they actually get used!

Why Ceramics?

Alongside glass, stainless steel and silicone, ceramics add warmth and texture to the kitchen, literally grounding everyday tasks and slowing things down, just a little.

We chose high-fired ceramics because they are:

  • Naturally non-toxic and food safe (LGFB Certified)
  • Plastic free and made to last
  • Durable enough for daily use
  • Timeless, not trend-driven

They’re materials you can trust, feel good using, and keep for years, which sits at the heart of our buy-once, buy-well philosophy.

A Slow, Handcrafted Journey

If these ceramics feel familiar, you’re not imagining it.

You may have spotted them in our photography over the past year on benches, beside chopping boards, holding utensils in the background. That’s because this range has been a long time in the making.

Unlike mass-produced kitchenware, our ceramics are handcrafted in very small batches. Each piece is shaped, glazed and fired individually, and that means no two are ever exactly the same.

The weather on the day. The humidity in the air.  The kiln temperature.

These tiny variables all influence the final piece, creating subtle variations in shape, tone and finish. It’s part of what gives ceramics their warmth and character, and what makes them feel crafted rather than churned out.

We see these variations as a strength. They’re a reminder that these pieces are made by hand, not by machine.

When Craft Meets Function

Designing a functional kitchen range around handcrafted ceramics requires patience.

For pieces like utensil holders, butter dishes and mixing jugs, these natural variations don’t affect everyday use, and add to the individuality of each item.

For others, precision matters more.

Our olive oil and vinegar pourers, for example, require an exact fit between the ceramic bottle and the pour spout. Even small shifts in the ceramic neck width can affect the spout tolerance, which in some cases may cause slight dripping or leaking during use.

Rather than forcing uniformity or compromising on function, we chose to embrace the handcrafted nature of the collection while providing a practical solution for everyday use.

Each set includes cork stoppers designed to seal the bottles when not in use and help keep things neat and mess-free. If you do notice any leaking, we recommend using the cork stoppers between pours and pouring with a little extra care when serving.

Designed to Replace Plastic, One Habit at a Time

Every piece in this collection replaces a common plastic item you reach for daily and currently includes:

  • Utensils Holder (for our Beechwood or Silicone Utensils of course)
  • French Butter Dish
  • Salt & Pepper Pods
  • Oil & Vinegar Pourers
  • Mixing Jug

Each piece is LFGB certified, dishwasher safe, and finished with a soft matte glaze and embossed Seed & Sprout logo. Organic shapes and calming tones make them pieces you’ll happily leave out on the bench or table.

A More Sustainable Kitchen

Here’s how ceramics support a more sustainable kitchen:

  • Reducing reliance on plastic
  • Encouraging fewer, better purchases
  • Supporting long-term use over disposability
  • Making everyday rituals feel calmer and more considered

These are small shifts that quietly add up over time.

Gosh we hope you love these ceramics as much as we do. It’s certainly taken us a long time to get them to you and we’d love to know what you think!

Still got questions?

We've answered a few of the most common ones about our ceramics below.

Why do the ceramics look slightly different from piece to piece?

Our ceramics are handcrafted in very small batches. Factors like weather, humidity and kiln temperature naturally create subtle variations in shape, tone and finish. No two pieces are exactly the same — and that individuality is part of their charm.

Are the ceramics food safe?

Yes. All Seed & Sprout ceramics are LFGB certified, food safe and suitable for everyday kitchen use.

Are the ceramics dishwasher safe?

Yes. All pieces in the ceramics range are dishwasher safe and designed for daily use.

Will future batches look exactly the same?

Each batch will be consistent in overall design, but subtle variations are part of the nature of handcrafted ceramics. This means your piece may look slightly different to the one pictured — and that’s intentional.
