There’s something special about gathering with loved ones around a homemade pizza, and it all starts with the dough! Crafting your own pizza is more than a meal—it’s a fun experience, where everyone can create their own unique pizza

THE DOUGH

Ingredients

  • 153 grams (1 cup + 1 tablespoon) all-purpose flour
  • 8 grams (1 teaspoon) fine sea salt
  • 2 grams (¼ teaspoon) active dry yeast
  • 4 grams (1 teaspoon) extra-virgin olive oil

Method

  1.  In a large bowl (or thermomix), mix the flour and salt together.

  2. In a separate bowl, pour 200 grams (a little less than 1 cup) of lukewarm water and add the yeast and let it sit for a minute or two to dissolve.

  3. Pour the yeast mixture into the flour and salt mixture, and mix until a shaggy dough forms. Add the olive oil and continue mixing until everything is combined.

  4. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 3-4 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic. You can also use a stand mixer with a dough hook if you prefer.

  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise at room temperature for about 3-4 hours. This will allow the dough to develop flavour and texture.

  6. Once the dough has risen, divide it into two equal pieces. Shape each piece into a smooth ball, and let them rest for another 30 minutes to an hour.

TIME TO MAKE THE PIZZA!

  1. Crank your oven up to its highest temperature. If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats for an extra crispy crust, or pizza oven.

  2. Gently stretch each dough ball into a pizza shape on a floured surface. Aim for a thin center with a slightly thicker edge for the crust.

  3. Let everyone choose their toppings! Start with a thin layer of tomato sauce, then add your favourite cheese, vegetables, and herbs. Some popular choices include mozzarella, mushrooms, bell peppers, fresh basil, or even a sprinkle of chilli flakes for a bit of heat. (it was a topic of debate on when to layer the cheese between the team)

  4. Slide your pizza onto the preheated pizza oven. Bake for 7-10 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  5. Let each pizza cool slightly, then slice and enjoy the delicious creations you’ve made together - best served on our Pizza Serving Tray!

Tips for the Best Homemade Pizza

  • Don’t Overload with Toppings: Less is more! A few well-chosen ingredients will keep the crust crisp and the flavors balanced.
  • Experiment with Toppings: Try adding arugula, olives, truffle oil, or even vegan cheese for a twist.
  • Let Everyone Get Creative: Kids and adults alike can enjoy the process of crafting their own pizza masterpiece.

Hosting a pizza night at home is a relaxed way to bring everyone together, creating lasting memories along with delicious food. Whether it's a traditional Margherita or a loaded veggie pizza, everyone will leave with full stomachs and happy hearts.
