Plastic Free Pantry Goals (and the easy way to get those pesky labels off glass jars!)

So this is the goal right? But how do you get this many jars?

Recycling old jars is a great start to creating a zero waste pantry.

But do you struggle to get the labels off your glass jars without going nuts?

I do. All that sticky scraping was driving me insane last week. I had about 10 to do and, like always, I was thinking... "I'm never doing this again!"

So I did an Instastory last week about my struggles to get the labels off glass jars... and what do you know? Insta came to the rescue BIG TIME.

You guys all came in with you best suggestions and the result is a game changer.

I'm taking, life hack, miracle result of all time.

Are you guys ready for this?

DON'T SOAK YOUR JARS.

Simply fill them (completely dry) with boiling water from the jug. You can warm up the glass jar a little beforehand by pouring tap hot water inside to prevent cracking. Most jars should be ok though.

Then, as if by magic, after 5 mins you can just peel the label off.

Here's the rundown:

Step one: Have a glass jar. Want label removed.

Step two: Pour boiling water in. DO NOT SOAK FIRST. Just dry is the key.

Step 3: Let sit for 5-10 mins

Step 4: Peel off. BOOM.

And you're done. For bonus points you can use Eucalyptus oil to wipe clean any sticky residue.

  • How do you get around all the plastic packaging that the pantry staples and food come in prior? Like pasta, biscuits, baking essentials, nuts, milk, etc?
