The silly season can generate tons of waste and foster not very environmentally choices. But there are ways to celebrate a more sustainable Christmas! And they’re easy to embrace!
In the past weeks, we’ve covered sustainable gifting, wrapping, and decorating! If you've missed it, check out our handy easy to read & downloadable guide, full of tips and tricks to help you get one step closer to an eco-friendly Christmas.
Now that everything else has been taken care of, it’s about time to gather around the table! Get inspired with some sustainable table setting ideas!
No Christmas table is complete without a festive centrepiece to enhance the season’s vibe. The key is skip unnecessary purchases and getting creative with things we already have or we can easily make. Collecting materials to decorate the table is also going to give a festive “mission” to a simple walk in the woods. This can be a fun way to involve children in decorating or even just a motivation to go for a walk on the beach!
DRESSING UP EVERYDAY TABLEWARE
You don’t need new or special tableware for the holidays! With a few eco decorations, you can dress up your ordinary pieces and create the perfect festive and sustainable Christmas table setting!

Try taking fallen leaves out of the garden and dipping them in gold paint, as do pine cones that you can collect from outside, or evergreens from the garden.
Everyone loves a drink at Christmas! Our Pantry Jars double as gorgeous drink cups for wine, cocktails, mocktails and more! Use a white marker to write everyone’s names on their jar so that they can continue to reuse it for different drinks throughout the day/night.
DECORATING… WITH FOOD!
Another lovely sustainable idea to make a holiday table setting special is letting the food shine! This certainly requires a little extra preparation in the kitchen, but the final effect is totally worth it! Even on the simplest table, these dishes will create a joyful and festive atmosphere. Our Eco Food Jars look beautiful on grazing tables! The best part is, the waste here is absolutely zero! Talk about a sustainable Christmas!
HANDLE THOSE LEFTOVERS
Even after your dinner table has been set and dinner has been served, there are things you can do to lower your overall waste. Before you reach for the cling film to cover your leftovers, remember that this too is plastic and it can last for decades without breaking down. Get your Fresh Food Pouches, Eco Stow Set and food containers ready! You can also use the Stretch Lids for those big bowls and party platters. Bonus tip: Ask your guests to bring their own containers to take some food home. Like we’ve said before, the key is in the preparation!
